It joins a lineup that includes the ADSP-21483, ADSP-21486, ADSP-21487, and ADSP-21488, offering enhanced performance, hardware-based filter accelerators, specialized audio and application peripherals, and new memory configurations capable of supporting the latest surround-sound decoder algorithms. Notably, all devices in this generation are pin-compatible and code-compatible with earlier SHARC Processors, providing a seamless upgrade path for users. The core of the ADSP-21489BSWZ-4A is a single-instruction, multiple-data (SIMD) core that supports both 32-bit fixed-point and 32-/40-bit floating-point arithmetic formats, making it ideal for demanding audio applications that require superior processing power
