The inclusion of a quartz crystal and lithium energy source within a 24-pin encapsulated DIP package further elevates its practicality and efficiency. In addition, the DS12885+ provides the choice of operating in either 24-hour or 12-hour format, accompanied by an AM/PM indicator for convenient time referencing. Its precision temperature-compensated circuit diligently monitors the VCC status, seamlessly transitioning to a backup supply upon primary power failure. The DS12885+ also offers the option to connect a lithium coin-cell battery to the VBAT input pin, ensuring uninterrupted timekeeping in the absence of primary power. Furthermore, the device's multiplexed byte-wide interface supports both Intel and Motorola modes, making it versatile and accessible for diverse applications
