FAN9611MX General Description
The FAN9611MX is an advanced interleaved dual Boundary-Conduction-Mode (BCM) Power-Factor-Correction (PFC) controller that is designed to provide high-level performance and efficiency for power conversion applications. By operating two parallel-connected boost power trains 180° out of phase, this controller extends the maximum practical power level of the control technique from about 300 W to greater than 800 W, making it an ideal solution for high-power demands. With inherent zero-current switching of the boost diodes and the ability to use less expensive diodes without sacrificing efficiency, BCM offers a compelling advantage over traditional continuous conduction mode (CCM) techniques. Furthermore, the controller allows for the use of smaller input and output filters due to ripple current cancellation and effective doubling of the switching frequency, resulting in cost savings across the system. Operating with variable frequency and a switching frequency limited between 16.5 kHz and 525 kHz, the FAN9611MX implements voltage-mode control with input voltage feedforward for automatic power factor correction in PFC applications, providing a comprehensive and efficient solution for high-power requirements. The controller also features built-in protections, including bias UVLO, input brownout, over-current, open-feedback, and output over-voltage protections, as well as independent output power limitation and maintained synchronization between power stages, ensuring the safety and reliability of the system in high-power environments
