ST SPC572L MCU and L9779 driver based EFI Solution

Published Published: Apr 26, 2023      Automotive Electronics      Share:

With the growing environmental awareness EFI (Electronically Controlled Fuel Injection) can meet higher standards of regulations, higher fuel efficiency, better performance, easier cold starts, less maintenance, and reduced emissions!

ST is introducing the EVAL-L9779WD-SPI, a small engine EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) solution based on the SPC572L64F2 MCU and the L9779 driver.

The L9779WD-SPI is capable of driving all relevant loads used in powertrain applications (injectors, ignition, relays, etc.), connecting variable reluctance sensors and Hall sensors, monitoring diagnostic functions and interacting with the main network environments present in the powertrain (CAN, K-wire). All channels are protected against short circuits and overheating.

SPC572L64 - 32-bit MCU designed for EFI

Designed for small EFI engine management systems, the SPC572L64 includes specific modules such as the GTM (General Timer Module) for locking and tracking the crankshaft angular position and an extraction filter for managing the burst sensor signal to ensure accurate injection and ignition timing, which directly affects engine emissions and consumption performance.

L9779WD-SPI - Automotive Peripherals on a Single Chip

The L9779WD-SPI contains all the building blocks of an EFI system for key sensor interfaces and load drivers (solenoids, relays, bulbs, etc.) for diagnostic and network functions.

Also developed using Labview, the STSW-L9779WD-SPI is a graphical user interface (GUI) that facilitates setup and control of the EVAL-L9779WD-SPI via the SPI protocol and multiple digital output pins.
