PM8800A General Description

The PM8800A is a cutting-edge power over Ethernet (PoE) interface and current mode PWM controller that has been intelligently designed to simplify the power supply sections of all powered devices. It seamlessly integrates all the necessary functions required by the IEEE 802.3af standard, including detection, classification, under-voltage lockout (UVLO), and in-rush current limitation. Additionally, the PM8800A caters specifically to powered devices with extended power requirements by incorporating a hot-swap MOSFET capable of sustaining twice the current of the 802.3af standard, along with a programmable DC current limit. This makes it an ideal solution for devices demanding higher power output. Furthermore, the integrated switching regulator is engineered to operate with power from either the Ethernet cable connection or an external power source, providing added flexibility in power supply options. The DC-DC section of the PM8800A features a programmable oscillator frequency, soft-start, slope compensation, and embeds a voltage output error amplifier, allowing for use in both isolated and non-isolated configurations. Whether it's for a Power over Ethernet PD converter with a 5V 2A output or a 12V 1A output, the PM8800A exceeds expectations with its exceptional performance and reliability
